2019 Toyota Sequoia for sale in Ontario
When gas prices were sky-high and rising a few years ago there were plenty of observers predicting the complete demise of truck-based, full-size, body-on-frame SUVs. They were wrong of course, and consistently lower gas prices in recent years have seen these road-going SUV giants increasing in popularity. So, if you’re in the market for a proper three-row large SUV here's what a new Toyota Sequoia has to offer for the 2019 model year.
Buyers who like a vehicle to look pretty are probably not going to be looking for a full-size truck-based SUV in the first place. Like most of its rivals, in fact almost all its rivals, the 2019 Toyota Sequoia is a big, brash, rugged and imposing vehicle in the way it looks. It's certainly not as muscular and aggressive as some, but it's not a model for shy and retiring types either. The overall look is quite elongated and makes the Sequoia look a little like a large wagon on steroids. The front and rear fascias have been updated to a more contemporary look with sharp angles and segmented chrome pieces.
Powertrain and performance
The big bruiser SUV image the Sequoia rocks on the outside also continues under the hood. There's no turbocharged four or six-cylinder engine struggling to push this beast and its load down the road. Instead there's the traditional reassurance of a big 5.7-liter V-8 producing a very healthy 381 horsepower and 401 lb.-ft. of torque. A six-speed automatic transmission sends all that power to the rear wheels in standard forms of the Sequoia, but a multi-mode four-wheel drive system is available for
all four trim levels. The powertrain makes all the right V-8 noises and it gets the Toyota down the road very nicely indeed, even with a full complement of people and cargo onboard.
Buyers looking for overt opulence and cutting-edge design should look elsewhere for a much more expensive alternative to the 2019 Toyota Sequoia. The Toyota's interior sticks to what vehicles like this do best, which is to offer copious amounts of interior space, so all passengers can ride comfortably and rest easy knowing they haven't had to leave anything at home due to a lack of cargo capacity. The third-row is available with a power folding option and the second-row bench can be replaced by a pair of captain's chairs, so the interior is as a flexible as it is spacious.
Safety features and equipment
Regardless of how old-school a full-size, body-on-frame SUV is seen to be today buyers will still expect a lot of the latest safety kit on such a substantial vehicle, and the Sequoia doesn’t disappoint. A backup camera, blind spot monitors with rear cross-traffic alerts, and automatic emergency braking are all standard, along with the likes of lane-departure warnings, forward-collision warnings, and automatic high-beam headlights. There are airbags aplenty throughout the cabin, and the chassis even has such modern features as modern features such as brake assist, brake force distribution, vehicle stability assist and a tow/haul mode to take the strain out of braking.
